Community of the Week: Hubspot
I’m definitely not the first person to write about how incredible the Hubspot Community is. (Plus, if you listen to this podcast episode of Masters of Community, you’ll see why they’re achieving so much success.) I’ve long been familiar with it, but only recently have I become a client of Hubspot, thus the community now takes on a whole new meaning to me.
What I like most:
The structure. If you show me right away where the discussions, groups, and events are (the sections I’ll frequent most), then I’m a happy user!
Onboarding emails. The community is clearly highlighted in the first few emails I received after registering with Hubspot. From the beginning of my consumer relationship with them, they were proactively directing me to and educating me on it. (If you want to see what these look like, just send me an email and I’ll gladly forward.)
The branding. Hubspot’s branding has always had a fun and playful, yet professional look to it, IMHO. This branding is consistent on the community, with my favorite part being the iconography used on the Groups section.
Not related to the Community: I just love that the company is taking a Global Week of Rest. To prioritize your employees’ well-being in that way is beyond admirable. I want to do business with, and be part of communities for, companies that take this approach for their staff.
My wish list:
Prompts for getting started. LinkedIn and Linktree do a great job of showing these to new users. They say things like “Complete your profile” or “Publish your first post.”
Product Integration. I’d love to see the community in the header when I’m using the CRM product itself. If I have a question, my first inclination is to go to the community to ask it, and there’s no clear link for me to go right there and do that from within the product.
Please do share about your experience using the Hubspot community!
This is part of a weekly series where I’ll select a community I’m inspired by and write about it. Sometimes they’ll be ones that I’m a member of. Sometimes they won’t. Sometimes they’ll be clients. Sometimes they won’t. Each post will share what I enjoy the most about that community, and if you’re familiar with it, I hope you’ll share what you like about it, too.
Do you have a nominee for Community of the Week? If so, send me a brief email with the name, URL, and a few sentences as to why I should highlight it and check it out.
