Huge thanks to Todd Nilson of Clocktower Advisors for having me on his LinkedIn Live show again this week to talk about community roadshows! We greatly appreciate the people who were able to join us this past Wednesday and those who have already watched the replay.
What IS a community roadshow? The way Todd and I define it…It’s a presentation delivered to various teams around your company to educate them on a key milestone of your community. This could include:
🚀 The launch of your community
🆕 The introduction of a major new section, or a new audience you are serving
🖥️ Announcement of a significant change such as: a migration to a new community platform, or a redesign.
Be selective with your roadshow topic so that it doesn’t take place more than twice a year. This is valuable time you’re getting with other teams, and asking for too much of it will dilute the importance of your content.
The roadshow typically allows for an opportunity to build a collaboration with these various teams. There’s certain information you want to make sure to convey during this presentation to introduce the idea of working together. That’s why I’ve built a free template for you.
This deck is meant to be customized depending on which team you’re presenting to. For example, slides 13-17 are all written with a different team in mind, so be sure to edit the deck to only include the slides that will be relevant for your audience. These slides are tailored to the following teams:
Support/Customer Service
Marketing
Product
Customer Success
Sales
If the deck is too long for you, feel free to only use the slides that you believe are most important.
A great question we got on the LinkedIn Live show: How much time is needed to present this? Ask for at least 45 minutes so that you’re not in a rush to present the content and you can still allow for some time for Q&A. If the team leader can only spare 30 minutes, take it! Then, plan accordingly.
Did I miss anything? Can you think of something I need to add to the template? If you’re reading this in your inbox, just hit reply to send me your response privately. If you’d like to share publicly, scroll to the comments section below (or, again, if you’re reading this in your inbox, click on the title at the top of the email. Then, scroll down to the comments section.)
Again, thank you to Todd for having me on as a guest, and to those who took the time out to join us for the live presentation of this!
