The Community Ops Tool That Everyone Should Know About
**DISCLAIMER: I’m an Advisor for this company, however, I was NOT asked to write this article. This is a company and tool that I truly believe in.**
If you’ve heard the name Talkbase lately, it’s for good reason. Having recently launched their public beta, this company offers a completely new and different type of tool targeted toward community operations professionals. It’s SO unique that I can’t compare it to anything else because I literally don’t know of any other tool like it. (This is partly the reason I decided to become an Advisor.)
But let me back up and first share with you how I became connected with Talkbase…
Last summer, when I launched my practice, I received a lovely message from Klara Losert in The Community Club asking if I wanted to connect. It was purely a get-to-know-you call, and she hinted at something she was working on on the side. I remember getting off the Zoom and thinking “That woman is one of the reasons I love community builders so much!” Her energy and enthusiasm for this field was infectious, and I felt lucky to have met her.
Fast forward a few months to Fall 2021, and Klara invited me to become an Advisor to her new startup, Talkbase. Some of my immediate thoughts and questions…
“What does that mean? What does an Advisor do? I’ve never done that. Are you sure you’re asking the right person?”
“What’s Talkbase? Why do community professionals need it? What’s your vision?”
“What’s expected of me? And how much does it cost if I say ‘Yes?’” (See, I was truly clueless about this at the time.)
Thank goodness for founders like Klara who have the patience to deal with someone like me and all of my questions 😂! After many detailed conversations, I not only had my answers, but I was privy to the earliest version and vision of Talkbase, and I WAS EXCITED. If everything Klara was telling me was actually going to come to fruition, this would be a tool unlike anything we’ve seen in the community world yet. (Also, Klara is an empowering leader, and that was evident.)
By the way, it’s an incredible honor to be asked to be an Advisor, and I’m fortunate to have had this opportunity. If you’re ever asked to fill this role for a startup, I encourage you to do lots of research and ask as many questions as you need to before accepting the position.
So now you’re probably wondering why Talkbase is so special…
I’ll highlight a few of my favorite things, but I encourage you to demo the tool to get the complete picture:
The focus on community ops and events
A built-in project management tool (you read that correctly…Built. In.)
Automation options to make a community pro’s life easier
The speaker database capabilities
The exquisite UI
The way you can segment your members
Dedicated features for better understanding your superusers
The incredible team of staff, advisors, and mentors they’ve assembled
A few more things you should know about Talkbase:
